Opelika, AL (February 23, 2024) – On Tuesday, February 20, there were serious injuries after a multi-vehicle crash in the Opelika area. The accident was reported on Interstate 85 SB between Exit 62 and Exit 64. Emergency crews were dispatched to render aid to the involved parties. 

Two victims were reportedly transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional. One of the victims was transported by ambulance, and the other was taken via an Air Evac medical helicopter. All lanes were closed as a result of the accident. 

Tow trucks were later sent to clear the roadway and reopen the site to outside traffic. At this time, no updates on the conditions of the involved parties have been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local authorities, and more information will be provided as it continues.
