Greensboro, AL – Local Woman Dies in Head-On Tractor-Trailer on AL-69

Greensboro, AL (March 3, 2024) – One person was killed another was hurt after a head-on crash involving a tractor-trailer in the Greensboro area on Thursday morning, February 29. The deadly accident was reported on AL-69 early that morning at around 11:15 a.m Local reports indicated that a 2014 Cadillac XTS was traveling on the highway when it collided with a 2006 International tractor-trailer. 

A passenger in the Cadillac suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased party was later identified as 59-year-old Irene Watkins of Greensboro. The driver of the XTS was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment of sustained injuries. 

No additional injuries have been provided at this time. The factors contributing to the crash have not been reported. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as they become available.
