Hueytown, AL (March 19, 2024) – On Sunday, March 17, a Tuscaloosa man was killed and another person was injured after a collision in the Hueytown area. The deadly accident occurred on Interstate 59 early that morning at around 7:58 a.m. Local reports indicated that a 2020 Genesis G70 driven by 22-year-old George E. Bishop III of Tuscaloosa was traveling on the interstate when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a concrete barrier.

The Genesis then overturned before colliding with a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a Vestavia resident. Bishop was transported to the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Chevy was also hurt and transported to the Medical West Freestanding Emergency Department in Hoover for treatment. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be released as it continues.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
