Deadly Bicycle Accidents in Alabama

Hamilton, AL - Two Killed in Bicycle-Vehicle Crash on US-278

Many people in Alabama like to ride bikes, either as a way of transportation or simple recreation. Unfortunately, even with all the appropriate safety gear, cyclists have very little protection when riding on the road. Every year, a significant number of riders are killed and injured in auto accidents. The Alabama Traffic Crash Facts state that in a recent year, bicycle crashes in Alabama resulted in 209 injuries and 9 fatalities. More than half of all bicycle collisions that year involved riders as the at-fault party. Approximately 14% percent of bicycle collisions occur on rural roads, with almost 86 percent taking place on city streets. Recovering fully from a catastrophic bicycle accident on your own might be challenging.
