Dadeville, AL (April 13, 2024) – On Wednesday, April 10, two inmates were killed and five more were injured following an accident in the Dadeville area. The fatal crash was reported on Elder Road while a group of inmates were being transported to the Alex City Community Based Facility in a van. The vehicle crashed, and emergency responders were rushed to the scene to render the necessary aid.
The inmates traveling in the van were later identified as Willie Crayton, Jake Jones, Bruce Clements, Thomas Bass, Heath Garrett, Shawn Wasden, and Richard Jackson. Crayton suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both Clements and Jones were hospitalized in critical condition, and Clements later succumbed to his injuries. All the other involved parties were treated at the scene by attending medical personnel. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available.
