Verbena, AL (April 29, 2024) – On Sunday, April 28, a local man was killed after a two-vehicle crash in the Verbena area. The deadly accident took place on US-31 that night around 6:11 p.m. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties.

It was later revealed that 31-year-old Phillip L. Williams was driving a Volkswagen Atlas when he collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 35-year-old Kayla Montgomery of Jemison. The vehicle left the roadway where it overturned. Williams was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries in the impact. No other injuries were reported in the collision. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be reported as it continues.
